The Winter Soldier x Reader Prt1 - The Mission

                               You were on your first mission. You've been on many others but this one was different, this one was dangerous. Extremely dangerous.

                               They called him the Winter Soldier, why? you didn't know it was classified. What was his real name? you didn't know it was classified. Why were you ordered to take him down? You didn't know it was classified. 

                               You and your team were driving down a snow covered dirt road. The Winter Soldier was supposed to be somewhere in a German compound where exactly in the compound? you didn't know. It seems like you didn't know a lot of things lately. Didn't know who he was, where he was, why you were ordered to take him down, why you were chosen, the list just goes on. But Fury decided this was the thing to do, so everyone did it without question. 

                               Sometimes it felt like SHIELD was just a big army of robots. Nobody questioned, nobody said anything, nobody did anything that they weren't told to do. They were wired in, brains turned off... and you were a part of this. You still used your brain, you still questioned, but you never said anything you kept your mouth shut like a good little soldier. 

                               Your van stopped at the edge of the forest and everyone got out.

                               There weren't many of you. Intel said he was in there alone, which sounded a bit wrong to you but again....you didn't say anything. 

                               The building was surrounded by barbed wire fencing, dead vines tangled in it.

                               You all got to the main gate, one of the men cut the chains holding it shut. hey made a crisp rattle to the ground. The wind was howling, snow stinging your face.

                               It was quiet. You knew this place was pretty much abandoned so it made sense that it was quiet... but still something seemed off.

                               Your small squad walked around the camp, no sign of the Winter Soldier. 

                               "He must be inside."  one of them said.

                               The other nodded and touched his earpiece, "We're going inside, keep a sharp eye." he said said to the sniper group back by the van.

                                                                                      Silence

                               "Do you copy?" he said, eyebrows furrowed.

                                                                                      Silence

                               "They're not answering.."

                               "Maybe it's the snow? You know...blockin' the signal?" one of the others suggested

                               "It's not that bad of a storm..." he answered

                               While they were discussing this you were looking for something, anything really.

                                                                                      Nothing.

                               No birds, rats, racoons, nothing.

                               "What if their batteries were dead?"

                               "That's not very likely..." 

                               They kept babbling on 

                               You looked back towards the woods and saw a dark shadow go behind a tree. You felt a sinking feeling in your stomach. 

                               "Guys.. did you see that?" you said.

                               "You scared rookie?"

                               "Aren't you?"

                               He opened his mouth to answer

                                                                                       ffft- fffft-

                               He fell to the ground, snow soaking up the steaming blood.

                               "We're under attack!" Your teammate yelled, starting to run.

                               Then you saw him, the Winter Soldier.

                               He fell out of the sky, slamming down the guy that was running away, snapping his spine. You heard it crack loud and clear.

                               Your comrades lifted up their guns. Bad idea. 

                               The Winter Soldier shot two of them with his gun, turned to the other, pulled the gun out of his hand and striked him on the head. He fell to the ground, unmoving.

                               The Soldier turned his head to you.

                               You were suddenly aware you were the last one. Where you just watching him kill your teammates like some kind of sick game show?  

                               He ran towards you.

                               You didn't move. Why didn't you move?

                               He grabbed your neck with his metal arm and slammed you against the metal door of the building. 

                               You tugged at his arm, trying to get free.

                               He raised you off the ground.

                               You gasped for a breath of air. You looked down at his eyes, dark smut around them, they were filled with anger and hatred and grief. So much sorrow so much.....

                               You were blacking out, the world fading slowly into the darkness. Until... 

                               He let you go.

                               You fell into the cold wet snow and inhaled the sweet air.

                               He backed away slowly... studying you. He narrowed his eyes, turned and ran into the snow filled woods.
